BILLIONAIRE BLOOMBERG'S SCAMS AGAINST THE PEOPLE: New York's Republican mayor Bloomberg is notorious for his money-motivated entrapment practices designed to squeeze every cent possible from New Yorkers. His tooth-and-nail opposition to freedom from paying the parking meters on Sundays was overruled by the City Council, but because they had a vested interest in canceling the term limits that the voters TWICE approved, they went along with Bloomberg's pressuring on that issue - and against the clear consensus of New York voters! During Billionaire Bloomberg's tenure the parking meter rates and bridge and tunnel tolls have gone up, up, and up - not to any extent that need concern a billionaire like him, of course. He also pushes for tolls on the East River bridges, so far unsuccessfully because the installation of toll booths is impractical and would worsen traffic congestion. In 2006, the number of vehicles towed from the streets of New York increased by 6%. In 2007, the increase in vehicles towed was 13%. SCAM #1 - BLOOMBERG'S "NIGHT REGULATIONS": Under Bloomberg we have the deceptive "night regulation" parking rules designed to fool motorists into inadvertently parking illegally, with the cops showing up at the stroke of midnight to slap tickets on the windshields of victims. This SCAM AGAINST THE PEOPLE works like this: Signs are posted in place of the usual alternate-side parking regulations signs, usually in more out-of-the-way, non-resential areas where people that work night shifts or attend local social clubs and bars park their cars. The signs say something like: NIGHT REGULATIONS - no parking Mon., Wed., Sat. 12 to 2AM. Many people will park on say a Friday night, and as Friday is not mentioned on the sign, they falsely believe there is no ticket risk. SURPRISE! At precisely 12 midnight, when it becomes 12AM SATURDAY, the police swoop down and start issuing tickets! I have actually witnessed this on several occasions - they get there as soon as the rule goes into effect. And the street sweepers are nowhere to be seen! Clearly this is a deceptive practice, and clearly such regulations are not intended for streetcleaning purposes but just to generate income for the city through parking tickets! Of course the lie is always maintained - the denial that any quotas exist on tickets issued or vehicles towed. But it IS a lie; the job performance of officers assigned to these tasks is measured by just how many tickets and tows they generate. Should you get a parking ticket, you may be able to beat it - go to: http://www.parkingticket.com/ BLOOMBERG'S SCAM #2: Billionaire Bloomberg doesn't miss a trick when it comes to new and more deceptive ways to fleece New Yorkers! I saw this one on the Bowery in Manhattan, all the way from Houston Street to Canal Street. This parking ticket trap is used there in combination with the "Night Regulations" scam. The signs say "PARKING: 1 HOUR," and give certain hours for certain days when this is in effect. Fine, that's clear - parking meters allowing up to 1 hour, right? But no - there are no parking meters of any kind at all! So one might assume that the meters have not been installed yet, or have been removed, and therefore as the time you've been parked cannot be prepaid for, or measured, you can park there for long as you want until parking is restricted for street cleaning or whatever. SURPRISE! - park for over an hour and you probably WILL get a ticket! But Bloomberg didn't get me; smelling possible deception, I asked a local store owner about this. He said that the police watch closely, and will put a note with the time on your windshield. They come back in about an hour, and if their note is present and indicates an hour of time has elapsed, THEY GIVE YOU A TICKET! Apparently Billionaire Bloomberg figured out he can take in more money with vague and deceptive sign scams than he would if they put in real parking meters! Do we want a con-artist like this as our mayor? YET ANOTHER BLOOMBERG TICKET SCAM: Have you seen the deceptive signs now found along many midtown Manhattan streets? Some signs tell you parking is not permitted at certain hours on certain days, but say nothing about the parking rules at other times. There are no parking meters, and all you see about that is a sign telling you to "Pay at the muni-meter." This is a device you put change or a credit card or whatever into, and you get a receipt to be displayed in your car's window stating the parking time you paid for. On many midtown streets there is NOTHING on any of the signs about the days and hours on which these muni-meter parking rules are in effect! One can play it safe and assume they are in effect all the time other than when parking is clearly prohibited by other signs, and then UNNECESSARILY PAY for time, as on Sundays, when parking without paying is legal. One can also be misled into thinking the signs are in error, as there are no standard meters or posted times of their use, and as a result you park and get a ticket! By the way, if you ever use those muni-meters, make sure to display the receipt with the time paid for showing, right side up and facing forward on your dashboard. Otherwise - A TICKET! Under Billionaire Bloomberg, parking tickets rob us of almost one million dollars a year. While drunk or distracted driving laws should be vigorously enforced for safety reasons, it is clear these vague and deceptive parking regulations are intended ONLY to take our money from us. But Bloomberg sees us only as revenue sources - he refused to raise taxes on the rich, but increased the sales tax instead! Republican Bloomberg always favors his fellow super-wealthy, and as their white-collar criminals are so fond of saying, "one hand washes the other." Do we want a mayor that routinely resorts to trickery and deception to drain us of every cent he can? Clearly this arrogant, pompous billionaire has nothing but contempt for the common citizen, as proven by his disregarding their wishes, twice expressed at the voting booth, that term limits remain in place, prohibiting him from running for another term in office. If this were truly a democracy and the will of the voters ruled, Bloomberg's candidacy would be ILLEGAL and he would not be on the ballot! RESTORE DEMOCRACY AND FAIR PLAY IN NEW YORK - DEFEAT REPUBLICAN BILLIONAIRE BLOOMBERG. DON'T LET HIM BUY YOUR VOTE! DEMOCRAT BILL THOMPSON FOR MAYOR![ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
