Whether you love me or hate me, you will never believe it , but I attempt to bury my bias and go for the truth. That's where I get my unabashed certitude. A passion for truth. That's why me and Arianna, both, once Republican's, no longer find but a smidgeon of social redeeming value in the GOP today. That said, I got a tip for you. I ran into G12+ anti freeze, German chemist engineered, and ..it appears to be awesome stuff. Ignore the comments by the opinionated (that ass with 30 years of experience is classic mind set) and note the picture and comments by Drivbiwire: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t 2751 Very interesting. At $10-15 U.S. per 1.5 liter bottle ....that is tolerable. Ok. A caveat. There is much mention that the VW cooling systems are close to "sealed". And "sealed" is integral to the performance of G12+. So.. is there any reason why "Detroit" cannot seal their production autos cooling systems? NO THERE IS NOT. As a by line, is there any reason why the EPA cannot demand, gaskets that will not fail, for ..........500,000 miles? Are you aware of the storm sewer contaminants caused by run off from roads and parking lots? Like, are you paying attention to the motor oil staining the parking lots all over the USA? ....the "black ice" that generates accidents nationwide, especially in the south... after a drizzle of rain? I note this because I have a 1995 Windstar 3.8liter V6 ( a flawed engine that had potential, connected to a pathetic transmission with no potential) with 160,000 miles on it. Parked on concrete, you will find ...NOT ONE DROP OF LEAKING OIL FROM THE PAN OR VALVE COVERS. Hurray! (Don't make me tell about the ten+ quarts of transmission fluid that vehicle has sprayed on roads, coast to coast, when the unsealed unit gets hot. That is another story) Change the engine gaskets frequently you say? It will never happen because of the expense and is not a necessity, if long life engineering is a priority. The technology for long life engine oil gaskets is available today, if you do not race to the bottom for short term savings. Regarding the 1995 Ford Windstar. It may be a case of luck of the draw, or a replaced engine under recall that makes the 160,000 miles dubious, but you get my drift. Engine oil impact on pollution can be reduced in other ways than just fuel combustion. Of course you need some "government intervention" to make the auto industry be better corporate citizens. Long lasting engine gasket technology can be used in production and replacement today. Write your congress person and the EPA and ASME.ORG. Good government can be a solution. The GOP will assure government failure, for selfish political reasons. Until the religious right is purged from that party, along with the carefully crafted coalition of the greediest among us and the bigots and the racists ...(with the help of CACI and Karl Rove and Karen Hughes) it will continue to have.... no social redeeming value. So .. I did some political ranting along with my auto compulsion. It is paramount we do a little political ranting in these dire days. When you are locked into a two party system, you have to go with the least of the two evils. As much as the Dems are letting the infamous Geitner and Summers guide our financials.... I have to say... the Republicans and their cronies will kill us more. Remember, we ran in Clinton's 90's almost as good as we did in the 50's(when marginal tax rates for the wealthy were............90%!!! ) Make an effort to watch C-Span, be sure to ATTEND A POLITICAL CAUCUS...(both parties if possible) , or...maybe you should not vote.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
