Black Elk, you questions are simple and direct and need answers as doe
this one.

The geo-political nature of the area, one of constant instability,
surrounding Iraq has been an interest to the US and its allies for
over two hundred years. Currently, the modern inventions of
transportation, ground and air, along with other communication
technologies provides an opportunity to respond more quickly. The
areas surrounding Iraq, Iran, etc. was determined to be an area of
interest by the western nation, thus making US and allies presence has
been a goal. When the russians attempted to find their way to the warm
waters of the Indian Ocean to developing year-around ports rather than
relying on the winter-bound ports of Russia's north coast line. That
was one issue that was soon grounded with the defeat and retreat of
the Russians.

Now the US expresses further interests in the area for it interest in
world-wide influence and presence. And that, too, has been very
expensive in lives and money. Will it work. It a task in progress. And
of course, the oil, the oil, the oil . . .

I would enjoy reading the opinions of others.

Thank you for the question, Black Elk.
