Actually, it never really was what it used to be. There were always squabbles and flames and accusations, etc., that's part of the charm of usenet. I think some of us oldies have lost sight of that. A few things happened, Madeleine Page died, the internet grew and evolved, old friends picked up new interests -- kids, careers, what have you -- and sailed off into the www. To those who rail on that the demise of a.c was caused by this poster or that one, your view is myopic. Some of the detractors were and are worse than the alleged offenders.
