After reading "...Did I ruin my beer?....What mill should I > buy?...." <additional deletion> I just wanted to comment on this even though it may be slightly off topic. How else can any type of special interest group continue to exist without "newbs" ? While I realize that usenet can be anarchistic, especially with the addition of so many people now online that can figure out how to use a newsreader and/or google groups, these individuals usually can be taken care with the proper filters. Just as much as anyone, I enjoy a good cup of java, and believe a great offering is a heavenly start to the day. While I am not currently roasting my own, I have been pondering this, and just may decide to take the plunge. I have been reading through this group for the past couple of weeks, and I believe that this would be a good place to find advice on where to find relevant information as to how to get started, as well as some tips/tricks. While I'd hope that my queries would not come off as simplistic as described above, as one of the "newbs" I may at times be distracting or ask for some clarification on something that may be quite simple to anyone that has been partaking in this endeavor for some time. So, my first newbe question to this group is what sites and/or textbooks has anyone found that I could use to decide how I would like to get started? I am sure there has to be different methods, equipment and raw materials (beans) that one can use, with pros and cons to each (what process doesn't!), so I'd like to start with a few sites/books that in the opinions of the users here actually have good information about these different options. If there is a FAQ for this group that covers some of this, please point me to it (I have looked through the caffeine FAQ, which has some good information, but not exactly what I was looking for).[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
