i also have a GeneCafe and i love it. Its true that the "hybrid"
character is sometimes not exactly what you want, but with a bit
profile-tuning you can get every coffee to a level where even
"intermediate pro roasters" give you a appreciative smile ;P.

I especially like the possibility to control temperature
on-demand. This feature has helped me not fucking up quite a few
roasts.

Also it gives you a nice possibility to "profile roast", so i wrote a
small application to log, save and "replay" roasts:
