I roast 1/2 pound batches outdoors with a heat gun and a stainless steel
bowl.  The equipment is inexpensive and you might have some or all of it
already.  Roast time is 10 - 18 minutes depending on the air
temperature, the beans and what I want to do with them.  I don't think
this method is discussed in Ken David's book or on the Sweetmarias site
but you can google heat gun coffee roast and come up with lots of good
resources.  I would not recommend roasting indoors without a really good
exhaust fan or other smoke abatement system.
