1. As a newbie seeking information, I was consistently directed to
alt.coffee. I suspect other newbs will be similarly advised, and may
loose "momentum" or interest if alt.coffee disappears.

2. TBH, this place seems pretty spam free compared with others. In those
other cases, we simply ignore the squabbles - rather like ignoring ugly
graffiti placed on public walls.

3. But I do take your point on one thing: I just looked at earlier
alt.coffee listings, and do see a friendlier, livelier, more positive place.

If you're serious about leaving alt.coffee, then 'twould be useful to
state the new location specifically! A non-specific list will simply
disperse the folks you want to keep. Also, some of us newbs know only
alt.coffee, barista, and Coffeegeek - and don't know the other places.
(Could the "regulars" be already meeting "elsewhere", and we don't
know
where?)

i.e. where is "elsewhere"?
