Ah, you're right. It was a long time ago, and I forgot that I tried really hard to get a thermometer to dangle into the mass of the beans and to be able to read it correctly. Probably if I had known what I know now about thermocouples, and threaded one of those into the popper I'd have had more luck with it. I guess I have to revise my position a little bit. A popper is probably the very best place to start. Some will stick with that and be really happy with it. I tossed roasting with the popper and only came back to it after I got the IR2. Gee, I dunno what's gonna work for anyone else. Anyone have any good input on building an egg candler????
