email client with pop-up notification

Looking for something that can display a (preferably small and unobtrusive)
notification whenever a new email has arrived. This is for a computer where
we do not want to use sound. Even better would be a little flashing icon in
a corner that does not change the focus of the active window and disturb
work in progress.
