My browsers don't give me audio. help!

Hi, I hope you will give me a suggestion.
I have just formatted my hardrive.
Then I have installed Win XP Pro and have made an update.
I have installed also as uickTime
as every version of .NET.framework (1, 2, 3).
But My brobsers both IE and Firefox don't give me audio but
above all I don't see the button "console" on my home page. I used it
to turn up and down the volume.
I'm waiting your suggestions, please.
