Taliban denounce 'puppet president' Karzai
Tue, 03 Nov 2009 12:12:28 GMT

The Taliban questions the legitimacy of Karzai's re-election
as president.

The Taliban has questioned the legitimacy of the Afghan
administration after the cancellation of a planned run-off
following the fraud-stained August presidential vote.

On Monday, Afghan election officials handed Karzai another
five-year term in office as his main electoral rival, former
foreign minister Abdullah Abdullah, withdrew from a run-off
vote citing serious concerns over the election.

"The cancellation of the second round of the election showed
that decisions on Afghanistan are made in Washington and
London, while the announcements are made in Kabul," the
militia said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The statement came hours after Karzai once against reached
out for his Taliban 'brothers', urging them 'to come home
and embrace their land'.

But the group lampooned him as a 'puppet president',
recalling how over one million votes were thrown away by
electoral officials as fraudulent.

"What is astonishing is two weeks ago they were arguing that
the puppet president Hamid Karzai was involved in electoral
fraud... but now he is elected as president based on those
same fraudulent votes, Washington and London immediately
send their congratulations."

UN chief Ban Ki-moon was among the first to congratulate
Karzai followed by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and
US President Barack Obama.

"How and based on what principles will the United Nations
consider this a legal administration," the Taliban asked,
saying the US-termed 'war on terror' and the Western
promises of democracy in Afghanistan have been proved to be
'empty slogans'.

The extremist group has vowed to continue its fight against
the US and NATO-led forces in Afghanistan until the foreign
militaries leave the war-weary country.

A government, of Israel, by Israel, and, for: Israel.
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light:
for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. The light shineth in darkness;
and the darkness comprehended it not. The light of the body is the eye:
if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness.
If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give thee light. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
