Somehow I wound up in Serbia on Halloween, which kind of sucks because Serbians do not celebrate the holiday, since they associate it with Catholics and they are Orthodox. Nevertheless, I found a few Serbs dressed up for the occasion, mostly goth types and those who are identify with American culture. I ran into a girl wearing a Marilyn Manson shirt, and she thought she was his #1 Fan until I showed her my Charles Manson shirt. Marilyn Manson teaches that all Americans care about are dead celebrities and serial killers, and Charles Manson is the serial killer who killed celebrities, which is why he's the King. There was a Halloween party at some club, but I'm not into the club scene so I decided to wander around the medieval Kalemegdan fortress that overlooks the Danube river. The fortress is so cool, built a thousand or so years ago from stone and bricks. The atmosphere was just perfect for Halloween, cold and clear and a nearly full moon and a light fog for ghosts to hide in. As I headed back downtown to Republic Square there was a 'Belgrade Wall' made out of cardboard bricks to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The wall was covered with graffiti, so I added some of my own with a Sharpie, including 'Fuck Obama' and a quote from Charles Manson: "It's just a pile of shit, so why not try to grow flowers in it?" -- Charles Manson Kalemegdan Fortress: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalemegdan Charles Manson shirt: http://www.satanssideshow.com/presentation/catalog/CT_TS_ClassicCharlie.cfm[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
