yeah, crushes/romantic interest played some part in the storylines of the trio...but Dumbledore's sexual orientation is never part of the story, never hinted at...and JKR provided her flashback explanation of the relationship and end of relationship btwn. Dumbledore and Grindelwald..so to come out three months after the fact with this revelation seems like an attention-getting ploy; a pandering attempt to make an adventure novel into some deeper social commentary. IF dumbledore's sexual orientation or heartbreak were ever material to the story, JKR had about 3,500 pages of text over the last ten+ years in which to mention it.
