Harry Potter movies

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Harry Potter Newsgroup and have a question.

We have Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the
Goblet of Fire. In Australia (where I am) these are rated M for Mature
Audiences.
Our kids are quite into the Harry Potter movies, the eldest having read the
books (the younger one is not into reading!).
Our question is, with the M rating, are these still appropriate for an 8 and
10 year old to watch? Or should we wait a little longer?

My husband and I haven't read any Harry Potter, nor watched these movies.
They were a gift to the kids from their grandmother.
