I'm in 100% agreement that "Temple Of Doom" is the much better sequel to "Raiders." And you put your finger -- exactly right -- on why: the Weird Tales/Robert E. Howard connection. Much has been made (too much, perhaps,) of the "Saturday matinee adventure serial" influence on Indiana Jones; I've always detected a much stronger pulp magazine influence. As far as I'm concerned, Indy could have been a cousin to Doc Savage, would give Dr. Fu Manchu a lot of trouble, and also would've been an excellent Cthulhu cult-buster. I love the whole "No White Man Has Seen This Before" subgenre, and "Temple of Doom" is a splendid example of the type. At any rate, nicely said, sir! the other Paul[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
