Why fruits go bad before they ripe?

I keep getting this problem with fruits from supermarket:
I bought green bananas. But they begin to rot from the end and get
some unattractive darkish color before they ever become ripe.
I had same problem with peaches and kiwi as well. Kiwi's skin becomes
wrinkly but inside they are still hard. Same with peaches.

Why such thing happen?
