Thoughts on Intros and Fills...

I have seen various people do various things when they introduce a
song( as oppose to just going straight to the strumming of chords).

i would like to hear people's thoughts of how they handle intros and
fills.

personally i like the use of

1)chord melody arrangement when introducing a song, i think it nicely
sets up and melody and mood. then after which, go into strumming(or
normal way of playing)

2) but i have also sometimes just started using my guitar as a
percussion instrument and hum the melody. i use this with some latin
songs that starts with percussion.

3) harmonics  - e.g. pure imagination

4) 10ths and quartal harmony of melody in the solo part

so any thoughts on how to enhance a song is appreciated.  youtube
