Pumpkin rind can fight yeast infection Sat, 31 Oct 2009 13:37:12 GMT Long been known for its medical properties, pumpkin also contains a powerful antifungal protein that can effectively fight many common yeast infections. Pumpkins have been traditionally used for medicinal purposes such as fighting diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol levels and cancer in many countries including China, Korea, India, Yugoslavia, Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil. According to a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, a protein extracted from the pumpkin rind called Pr-2 effectively fights the fungus responsible for vaginal yeast infections, diaper rashes, and other health problems. Pr-2 is reported to inhibit the growth of 10 species of harmful fungus including Candida albicans - also known as thrush is especially troublesome in diabetics, leading to yeast infections in the mouth, on the skin and under the nail beds as well as systemic infection when overgrowth occurs - by targeting the cell wall or membrane of the microorganisms. The protein, however, has no affect on bacteria. Scientists hope the pumpkin protein can pave the way for the development of natural medication to fight yeast infections. According to a study published in the journal Nature Biotechnology, Lodamin is a nontoxic medication formulated as a preventive therapy for patients at high risks of developing cancer. It can also be a chronic maintenance therapy for a variety of malignancies particularly aggressive tumor models such as melanoma, lung and breast cancers as well as life threatening liver metastases. Children's Hospital Boston researchers believe the new angiogenesis inhibitor selectively accumulates in tumor tissue and prevents it from forming or recurring by blocking the growth of its blood supplies. The study reported that Lodamin is a novel slow-release reformulation of TNP-470, the first broad-spectrum angiogenesis inhibitor effective in treating a wide range of cancers but linked to several neurologic side effects such as depression and dizziness. Researchers believe the medication can also be useful in treating other ailments including age-related macular degeneration and arthritis. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
