LG LHT854 Home Theater HELP?????

Picked up an open item LG LHT854 home theater system at Best buy but
they didn't have the remote or the manual.  Ordered an OEM remote but
don't have it yet.  Connection is straight forward but have some
questions.  The only INPUTS appear to be left-right RCA jacks.  So I
was assuming to play my cable broadcasts thru the system I had to
connect from the audio outputs on my cable box to the inputs on the LG
system and set it to AUX.  This only gives me sound out of one each of
the left and right speakers.  The other side speakers, the middle
speaker and the bass have no sound coming out.  Is this somehting I
will be able to correct with the remote?

Also, is there any way to adjust any of the settings thru the front
console without the remote?  Would like to at the least get the sound
working out of all the speakers.
