News providers: Any thoughts on who's "better"

I have news.verizon.net available for free with my DSL, but it's as
pokey and glitchy as (insert favorite barb here).

I signed up for Newsguy just before their "upgrade" boondoggle and am
not real happy with what I see for lags and speed.

I'm now running trials on Supernews and Giganews, both look good but I
have no history as to who has good service over the long haul.

Any comments?
