recording music via radio air and internet stream

Anybody else recording off air or via stream these days?

My old hobby is rejuvenating my aging spirit these last few days..

I dug a box out of the garage yesterday and started playing some music
tapes I had stored.

I got  awesome Cities 97 tapes KQRS - 1992?  genre. These are Toshiba
PCM and VHS Hi-Fi off the air tapes via awesome Luxman tuners.




Anyway....On top of that...that Cities 97  New Age Spotlight
programming  (not that portion that just came from San Francisco) was
very good.  I think the station owner did it himself.  Shame he sold
out.....but then arts in the eye of the beholder... and some
businesses are built by entrepreneurs to sell.

So many things to do, so much great music to hear............

I have some streaming recordings from KAXE.org  internet stream  now
too,   unedited , but the sound  via this  remote marginal DSL line
just does not sound right to me.  Not rich and full like the KQRS
broadcasts.

Anybody else recording off air or via stream these days?

I record to save the best and time shift  for my own listening.  I do
sometimes buy a disk and support the artist ..when I can.  I  got  a
pile of  new Celine Dion and Mark Knopfler
CD's  recently.


.. these are Toshiba  DX900 PCM and  VHS Hi-Fi off the air tapes. KQRS
broadcasts were  captured by a world class Luxman T117 FM tuner  and
some via a great   R106 receiver  both with an adequate antenna
residing on the top of a West Bloomington hill.  Probably the best
place in the TC to get radio air signals with the possible exception
of Columbia Heights.
Anyway.....

You would think you were listening to  an audiophile ADD CD via a
$3000 Sony  ES player. So pretty. I still have my Pinnacle PN-5+
speakers. I had to get rid of my big Magnepans. My NHT Super Zero's
are total crap compared to the Pinnacles. I hope they hang in there. I
googled and find you cannot get tweeter replacements for them.   Kinda
like the Spica TC-50.  I don't think value speakers are well crafted
for discerning ears anymore.. Today  the designs want to reproduce
Top Gun  in a  home theater.
