help! magic trick bushgardens pot of gold

i cant figure out how to   unlock  the right hindge  spring  with
key   for   three  penicls  go thru coins illusion   it says pen  but
i have seen it on tv  with three  pencils
it has black and white photo on back on writen tezxt info    but  i
cant under stand  what they mean?
