[deletion] I haven't told this story here for a while, so at the risk of repeating myself: I was five years old and boarding for part of the summer with a family friend and her family on a farm in rural King County. We'd drive into Seattle regularly and one day I saw to my horror and fascination a mysterious figure walking the streets. He was clearly a spaceman, from his boots to his bowl-like helmet. He was obviously also publicizing a new film since he was carrying a sign. But he scared me and made me want to see the film. So Ethel packed us up and off we went to one of Seattle's big old movie palaces. I spent large chunks of the movie depressurizing out in the overstuffed lobby. It was the scariest thing I had ever encountered and I always remembered the experience with pleasure. When I finally bought a copy, I was of course disappointed. But I still find things to admire about this six-day wonder of Ulmer's. -- Frank in Seattle ____ Frank Richard Aloysius Jude Maloney "Millennium hand and shrimp."[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
