what the hell?!

I just read Inland Empire is out (or will be in days) on DVD? So thats
it, no distribution, just a few festivals? Is this the first time in
history that a director gets nominated for an academy award and his
follow up film has to be "straight to dvd" because it cant get
distribution?
I've been following Lynch for 30 years now and I have to "debut" a
film of his in my bedroom? This is truly sad. I wonder what happens
the rest of his career. I hate to say this but I kind of hope he falls
on some financial difficulties so he is forced to do something more
mainstream, which for him of course will be a hell of alot less
mainstream than anyone else. I hope he has one more great film in him.
