Defective User or What?

I only have one active (or even existing) user on my XP-pro, that is just
me. I have, for years, used the Microsoft Money free portfolio manager to
see what is happening every day.

About a month ago that specific website (and all MS money related websites)
began to report the error 500, server error, etc. I worked for several
weeks with the month folks and they had me try lots of different things,
none of which got me to get access to that one group of websites. I was
still able to get to all other websites with no problem

Finally they suggested that perhaps my own user file was defective and
suggested making a new user. I did and it had no problems in getting to
that site, although the presentation included every stock that had ever been
owned by either of us. I figure that's an issue I can deal with since we do
not trade and there is a local backup made every time I access the site.

The problem then is that none of the links, favorites, password files, etc.,
were available to that new user. The Money folks have now referred me to
the XP support folks at Microsoft but I would prefer to not pay for all the
time they will take.

Question- is there some way to repair or diagnose what specifically is
keeping me off those specific sites, or alternatively, can I somehow create
a new user, clone all properties from my own profile, delete myself, and
then rename the new user to my own user name?

How in the world can a user file control access to just one group of
websites?

Any thoughts are appreciated, has to be a simple problem. (Yes, it's far
beyond the time I can do a restore, and also OneCare is running fine, but
keeps making backups that over-write any possibly good profiles for me_)

Thanks,

DAW
