If you do a simple google search you will see that adjusted for inflation gas prices are about what they were in the 1980's. And fuel economy is better than it was in the '80's so the price of gas per mile is lower for almost everybody. http://www.randomuseless.info/gasprice/gasprice.html Another factor that most don't understand, is inflation caused by the inability to raise taxes due to a general taxpayer revolt that is going on. So the government resorts to printing money to pay for what it wants. The result of the printing press money is that the Silver dollar that has been retired now has about $10 worth of silver.
