Who was it that said: "First they burn books; then they burn people."

Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, and it cuts both ways. My wife's
cousin got thrown out of Red China back in 1982 and some time later we were
walking down Oak Street past the Alameda County Courthouse. The
Revolutionary Workers Party (or some other nonsense pushed by Bob Avakian)
were having a demonstration and the usual crazies were ranting and raving
into their bullhorn, blasting and chastising the parasitic fascist insect
state preying on the working man, blah blah blah.

I told Tony that in America, we have freedom of speech which means you can
pretty much say anything you want except advocate physical violence. He
told me he knew that, but what he really liked about America was that *you
didn't have to listen.*
