'Wisdom, Justice, Fortitude, Moderation" is the motto of the Stoic
philosophy. The American government and people should adopt the ends
and goals of this philosophy.
When I was a child of about 13, my family (Christian) and myself
traveled on vacation to two Muslim countries, Egypt and Turkey. While
there, we were treated with utmost respect, courtesy, and
cordiality .
We enjoyed our visits to these countries, their wonderful cultures,
their great historical monuments, and their people.
As a result of the aforementioned, I dismiss as malicious prejudice
the current malicious diatribes against Muslim individuals and
nations.
However, I do agree with those who state that, as in all religions,
extremism exists in some Muslims and in some Muslim nations, as it
does in all religions and nations.
I agree with the concept that women are unfairly often treated as
second class citizens in SOME Muslim nations, not all.
However, it is ALSO, the case that men in THE USA and some other
Western nations are treated like second class citizens (similar to
the
unjust manner in which women are treated by the Taliban) in
comparison
to women (feminism, affirmative action). In essence in the USA, men
are treated like "domesticated animals" by a clearly matriarchal
feminist society as women, under the Taliban, are treated.
Our aggressive, cruel, illegal, and criminal wars in Afghanistan and
Iraq amount to pogroms that have resulted in the deaths of hundreds
of
thousands of Muslims.
It appears to me that the USA and it's allies are demonstrating the
barbarism, the radical and cruel ethnocentrism, and the religious
bigotry which they purport to be combating.
As long as the USA and it's allies refuse to follow those ethical
norms and those rules of international law which have manifestly been
abrogated in the "war against terror" , the USA and it's allies will
continue to face the Wrath of God, in my opinion.
By adopting and promulgating the ends and goals of the Stoic
philosophy,"Wisdom, justice, fortitude, moderation", I believe that we
bring about peace, prosperity, and harmony both in the USA and through
out
the world.

"Nothing is more essential, than that permanent, inveterate
antipathies
against particular Nations, and passionate attachments for others,
should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable
feelings towards all should be cultivated. The Nation, which indulges
towards another an habitual hatred, or an habitual fondness, is in
some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its
affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its
duty and its interest. Antipathy in one nation against another
disposes each more readily to offer insult and injury, to lay hold of
slight causes of umbrage, and to be haughty and intractable, when
accidental or trifling occasions of dispute occur. Hence frequent
collisions, obstinate, envenomed, and bloody contests.
Real Patriots, who may resist the intrigues of the favourite, are
liable to become suspected and odious; while its tools and dupes
usurp
the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their
interests. George Washington "
