Confused with Comage SL65 and DiSEqC switch

Assistance required on settings for DiSEqC switch.

I used a 2x1 DiSEqC switch to connect two fixed dishes to a single Comag
SL65 receiver. This worked fine enabling channels on different satellites
to be selected using the remote control as if they were all on one
satellite. The switch was 'invisible' to the user.

The Comag SL65 was the early model.
Then I decided to swap it for the later SL65.
But I can't get the DiSEqC switch to work as with the earlier model.
Channels from one satellite are displayed ok, but display 'no signal' if a
channel on the other satellite is selected.
(If I reverse the swap, it works as before)

The earlier model receiver has just one DiSEqC 1.2 setting control for the
whole receiver, but the later model has separate DiSEqC controls for each
satellite. There is a choice of DiSEqC 1.0 or 1.1 (but not 1.2)

For DiSEqC 1.0 options are:
Disable, 1/2 .... 16/16

For DiSEqC 1.1 options are:
Disable, 1/16 ..... 16/16, and Modes 1 1/4 to Mode 3 4/4

For my 2x1 set up (DiSEqC 2.0 switch) the only suitable option appears to be
DiSEqC 1.0 1x2. I tried mains turn off and re-boot but it doesn't work as
hoped.

Can anyone advise on this?
Would upgrading the software/firmware offer more options such as DiSEqC 1.2

The wikepedia DiSEqC page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DiSEqC
the table indicates that receiver 1.0 and switch 2.0 should work, but with
proviso that the switch cannot receive communications from the receiver.
Could this be the issue?
