I've put plenty of flat screens above fireplaces (under protest - I think
it's generally too high for comfortable viewing).
Heat hasn't been a problem, fishing electricity and other wires to the
location is a PITA.
Projection, IMO, is not for everyday viewing (check the cost for replacement
lamps, etc).
