If I could ask Manny one question, it would be how exactly was he wronged? Aside from all of his incoherent ramblings, I am still puzzled by what the hell he was talking about. And if this whole episode simply boiled down to the fact that the Sox didn't pick up his option when he wanted -- then I say good riddance to you, sir. If he wants to give up the privilege of playing for what I think is the greatest ball club in history, then fine. Sure, we (or Manny) can criticize Sox management for not excercising the option earlier, but that does not give him the right to not fulfill his current contract in good faith. And after two championships in four years, I'm not about to blindly question this front office. Manny was under contract until the end of the season and he should have played his butt off until then. These fake injuries, half-assed efforts and bullshit behavior of late were completely unprofessional. I guess I'll never fathom how a player can willfully throw away one of the greatest positions in all sports. Of course, I'm a Sox fan so I could be a tad biased. But, it still begs the questions: how was Manny wronged? And I don't think we will hear an answer... because he wasn't. I'm grateful we had Manny's best years in Boston. But, in light of his recent actions I am also glad that he is now gone. I hope the team responds favorably to the change, because as much as I admired Manny the hitter, I root for the name on the front of the uniform. I wished it could have ended differently, like with the Manny retiring as a Sox, but I wonder if that was ever truly possible. I'd like to think he'll look back on this whole affair with regret one day, but I seriously doubt he understands the concept. I guess time will eventually tell.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
