Tony Allen can apparently manipulate time and space: "HeÆs been scrimmaging for two weeks every day, so this shouldn't affect him." Doc isn't sure what he thinks: "ThatÆs probably pretty much what we think weÆll do,ö Rivers said. He's come up with a fine example of cognitive dissonance resolution through bizarre rationalization. Tony Allen can't play the point because he can't handle well enough to break pressure. However, Tony Allen has to play the point because there's nobody else. Hence: ôTony will run the point off the bench. When him and Eddie are on the floor, he may have the ball more than Eddie. Tony will guard the 2, but the point will still guard Eddie, so that means the point wonÆt be guarding Tony and pressuring him.ö You see how this brilliant plan works? Tony *can* play the point, *if* you put an even crappier point guard in the game at the same time, and *then* hope the opposing team chooses to guard *him* instead, even though he isn't bringing the ball up. I'm feeling really good about this plan! Doc feels quite positive about Scot Pollard: ôHe canÆt help us today or tomorrow.ö Doc's explains his exciting "education through eating" plan: ôI encouraged them to get out into the city and learn things,ö he said. ôWe have team dinners every night in the hotel, but itÆs not mandatory. I actually would prefer them to go out of the hotel and go spend some of their money and go to one of the famous restaurants. I have a feeling more NBA teams are going to schedule team dinners and then hope nobody comes after seeing the incredible learning of this year's Celtics players. Doc has a unique view of competition: That's the way I look at it. Since I've always thought it was a tie for the most part, the tie goes to the winner." Doc is approaching Yogi Bera territory with some of these quotes. This season is really looking up! Well, as long as what you wanted was crappy coaching with lots of unintentional humor. -- Neil Cerutti[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
