Arsenal in for old Tweety just as he's having a medical at Citeh... From the Telegraph. The eleventh hour intervention by Wenger is sure to enrage City manager Mark Hughes who believed the deal to be a formality after the player had agreed in principle a move across the city. Wenger, who is keen to add cover at left back for Gael Clichy and values Silvestre's Premier League experience, apparently made his intentions known to the player whilst he was at the City of Manchester Stadium, with Silvestre abandoning the medical to head straight to London to discuss terms. The French full-back has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford after making just six appearances for the club and, despite approaching eligibility for a testimonial match, has decided his future lies elsewhere. The signing of a 31-year-old goes against Wenger's tried and trusted policy of brining youth in to the club but Silvestre's experience both with Manchester United and France appeals to the manager. Silvestre joined Manchester United from Inter Milan back in 1999 for a fee of £4 million and has been told by Sir Alex Ferguson that he can leave this summer without a transfer fee. City have long made their interest known and believed they had tied up a deal, though the lure of Arsenal appears to have ended their chances. .......................................................................................... .................... Still, shouldn't let the arse have him on a free, the scavving skint fuckers.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
