"Is Life but a Dream?"

There is a old English nursery rhyme and popular children's song/
proverb, often sung as a round.   It is called:  "Row, Row, Row Your
Boat"
In the Star trek movie " The Final Frontier,  Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy
and Captain Kirk sing this song after returning to earth from a
disappointing trip
to the center of the galaxy. They were previously led on a quest to
find God.  But the God they  they found was just a shape shifting
alien who
wanted their star ship. They were looking for God obviously in the
wrong place.  But where has God really made Himself visible?


Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.




A philosopher once said, " without an  infinite reference point a
finite point has no meaning,"  If there is no personal infinite God
equally there is no basis for
absolute truth and purpose. However if there is an infinite personal
God who is good then we have some hope that with His help as we can
ask Him, He will guide us into all truth. If there is no God, and we
are simply the product of chance and the impersonal then in the end
does anything matter  or make sense?  If there is no God life is but a
dream that will eventually end.  However, we do have reason to hope
and to believe God is real for He has revealed Himself in His Son.

John.1

[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth.
[17] For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus
Christ.

1Thes.4


[13] But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning
them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have
no hope.
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them
also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
[15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which
are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent
them which are asleep.
[16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with
the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in
Christ shall rise first:
[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we
ever be with the Lord.
[18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Col.1

[12] Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be
partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
[13] Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath
translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
[14] In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the
forgiveness of sins:
[15] Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every
creature:
[16] For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that
are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or
dominions, or        principalities, or powers: all things were
created by him, and for him:
[17] And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
[18] And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning,
the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the
preeminence.
[19] For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
[20] And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to
reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be
things in earth, or things in heaven.
