A quick and handy reference guide to the stories, artwork and othersuch that goes along with the first 'part' of the very big storyline, the Arc of the Wolf. The main reason I'm posting this is because there are more authors and artists involved in it than simply me, and this allows for a quick referral in case anyone wants to go back and see things in order. Likewise, On the Nature of Wind is included in here just because that makes it simple. A few of these stories were written AFTER I started posting it all here, so (because I'm going chronologically) you haven't likely read them yet. In as such, you can find them here now. Anyway, on with the tales! THE STORIES Title: Best Smile Rating: G Words: 842 Timeline: 2228 Notes: Six year old Montgomery Scott has already learned a few lessons, and one of those is simple: "People leave. Even when you don't want them to." Not quite his POV, not quite apart from it. Originally posted here: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/121068.html Title: Wait Rating: G Words: 1657 Timeline: 2232 Notes: Prompted by renarcher; Spock, McCoy and Scott meet as children. Kinda. Probably not what she had in mind (given the age gaps between them), but hey. Of course, none of the involved parties know each other. Originally posted and best read here: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/149310.html Title: Now Rating: PG Words: 483 Timeline: 2235 Notes: I am gonna say that this is really fricken gritty, despite only being a PG rating. No, seriously. So, think before you read and if you don't wanna do gritty, then please please don't read. It doesn't do any explaining, either. It just is. Absolutely best read in it's original post here:http://slwatson.livejournal.com/92066.html Title: Junkyard Dogs Rating: PG, one cuss word Words: 10,240 Timeline: 2237-2238 Notes: The whole story in one linked post. Inspired by CommanderTeddog's plotbunny, a look at Scotty from fifteen through sixteen; how he gets into the idea of testing the Perera Field Theory mentioned in the novel Kobayashi Maru, as well as how he eventually gets the notion to go into Starfleet, all from the point of view of someone who has more in common with him than just a few coincidental traits. And how that person eventually comes to terms with the connection. Read it in its original, and best, format: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/141855.html Title: Torn Rating: G Words: 1875 Timeline: January 2240 Notes: Takes place between Junkyard Dogs and Downtime, before the events mentioned in Kobayashi Maru (the novel); two years before On the Nature of Wind. As always, best read in it's original format here: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/145583.html Title: Downtime Author: Teddog Rating: G Words: 625 Timeline: June 2240 Notes: Written for me by Teddog, who has never watched Star Trek; Scott, three days before he ships off for Starfleet Basic Training, looking at his life in three piles. Please consider giving her feedback; maybe we can hook her into the fandom! http://commanderteddog.livejournal.com/490830.html Title: Processing Rating: G Words: 2642 Timeline: June 2240 Notes: One of a set of 'Basic Training' stories -- that particular group is not finished and only has two parts. Edited by Teddog. This is a look at Scott going through processing (and finding it beyond a surreal experience); kind of a darkish comedy of incredulity. Mostly, though, just very surreal. Read it here: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/150001.html Title: Distant Horizons Rating: G Words: 1527 Timeline: August 2240 Notes: The second 'Basic Training' tale; two months in, Scott starts figuring out a few things. Like what freedom is, when you've earned it rather than gained it by apathy, and what it is to be just a little bit defiant against what was demanded or expected of you. Edited by Teddog. Best read here: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/150067.html On the Nature of Wind Author: SLWatson Editors: KRWalker, Maguena, Sadisticerrorpi Betas: TheBrimmstone, Smoke Glacken (Jen), Allenth, Sabby (other Jen), Ehzoterik, Merfilly Rating: PG, mild cussing Timeline: 2242 - 2243 Notes: The story that started the whole thing -- Cadet Scott gets stuck building a really big boat as a final for Starfleet Engineering Academy. Except... nothing quite goes exactly like he, or anyone else, would expect. You can read the whole thing here: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/144932.html Title: Uncommon Language Rating: G Words: 534 Timeline: 2242 Notes: Takes place between the Prologue and Part I of On the Nature of Wind... a light-hearted look at accents, and a building friendship. For some reason, people adore this one. Originally posted here: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/81922.html Title: Gauntlets: White Ash and War Paint By: RenArcher Rating: PG Words: 620 Timeline: 2243 Notes: A possible look at Corry between Part II and Part III, after the fire. Written for me as a gift by my friend Danie; vivid imagery! Read it here: http://renarcher.livejournal.com/70907.html Title: Sunset By: Sadisticerrorpi Rating: G Words: 402 Notes: An absolutely amazing first-person look into Corry's head, inside of Part IV, Chapter 1. I was floored by just how keen her insight was, and in this case, even if he is mine, her's were better than mine. Can be read here: http://sadisticerrorpi.livejournal.com/4905.html Title: Just One Moment By: Merfilly Rating: PG Words: 133 Notes: A distinct snippet view of Part IV, Chapter 6 -- short, but pretty damn cool. Read it here: http://merfilly.livejournal.com/547230.html So, that's it for the stories (so far). THE ART Jay - A quick sketch of Jay McMillan from Junkyard Dogs. Not a finished piece, but still: http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/watson_stephanie/Jay_sketch.jpg Junkyard Dogs - A four-panel piece from Junkyard Dogs; I'm not one- hundred percent happy with it, for reasons I can't decide. CONTAINS SPOILERS for the story. Color, Photoshop CS2, Wacom Bamboo, several hours: http://slwatson.livejournal.com/142425.html Jay - Jay again, this time as depicted by Teddog! Who has a distinctly cartoony style. Traditional, mixed-media: http://commanderteddog.livejournal.com/494468.html Late Night - Inside of Part II of ONOW; Cadet Scott working into the night. Color, Photoshop CS2, Wacom Bamboo, several hours. http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/watson_stephanie/MoldLoft3.jpg Shipwright - Inside of Part IV of ONOW; what must it feel like to have built this large, beautiful ship, but still feel so small compared to nature? Two panels, color, Photoshop CS2, Wacom Bamboo, many many hours: http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/watson_stephanie/Shipwright.jpg Slipping - Inside Part IV of ONOW; Scotty at the end of his proverbial (and literal) rope. It was actually pitch black down there, but I took some artistic license. Color, PS CS2, Wacom Bamboo, relatively quick piece: http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/watson_stephanie/Water.jpg Judgment - Part V, Chapter IV of ONOW; Corry and Scotty waiting for their final fate (at least in Starfleet) with steady hearts. Color, Photoshop CS2, Wacom Bamboo, fairly quick piece: http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa88/watson_stephanie/Judgement.jpg -- And, that is it. Stories, artwork and all you could possibly want to know (and then some!) about the first 'era' of the Arc of the Wolf. Enjoy![ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
