Newsgroup: alt.support.diabetes
about a year and a half ago i posted that i had a hypo and i ate a small
piece of chocolate and i was ok by the time the paramedics got to me.

in 2006, many of the group told me what happened to me did not sound
like a hypo & the sugar in chocolate would be delayed by the fat in the
candy.

a few months later i had another episode except this time it was in the
doctors waiting room.

i could feel myself begin to sweat & feel week. the room was kinda going
dark. i manged to get through the waiting room area to the other side
where the receptiomist is. the nurses ran out and helped me back to an
exam room. i was very scared & feeling ver very faint.

they got me on the table put a wedge under my legs, hooked me up to a bp
monitor, did a finger stick, and ran an EKG.

My blood sugar was 100. the EKG was normal. but my bp was 90/65. the doc
said he didnt know why i was feeling faint & "if it happens again you
are going to buy yourself a night in the hospital." he told me to go eat
something.

i was getting ready to move to another state...new docs that i havent
even found yet.

iwas thinking about what had happened with the paramedics a few months
before. my blood sugar was 100, but i had eaten chocolate. the thing
that went over my head was bp...90/70

after i moved i told the new doc my suspicions that my bp meds were too
high. i had had a similar ep while waiting downtown for a bus a week
prior to seeing him

i told him in detail what had happened. he lowered the dose. that was in
august of last year. (2007).

this past febuary (2008) i had another episode in walmart. but how could
this be? it passed. i chalked it up to maybe anxiety?

at the end of july it happened again. so i made a doc appt.

i went to the internist last thursday. she told me to stop taking it and
monitor my bp everyday. the resident will call me next week to see how i
am. the dose was very small. almost no dose at all.

if it goes up she'll just put me back on. no biggy. but i asked her
2ce..."are you sure about this?". i think its the correct course but it
scares me. most pple dont go off once on. i dropped weight after being
diagnosed with diabetes. bp & diabetes go hand in hand. my diabetes is
under very good control i think those 2 things altered my chemistry. she
agreed.

so far, without meds my bp has been averaging 112/73...even after
chinese food! i make my own sirfry but i use soy sauce too.

when i was originally put on bp meds my readings were 163/90

i just wanted to apologize to those who did tell me the right
information but i kept insisting it was a hypo when it wasnt though i
was led by the docs in the other state to believe it was. however, i was
a newbie of 2 months and never questioned the docs "expertise"...oh
silly me, i couldve died!

thank you to those who responded and tried to help me.
