More details:

According to the Daily Telegraph (UK), the police was lucky enough to
get the server while still on, otherwise everything would have been
encrypted on shut down and they may have never managed to set up the
sting operation to the visitors.

Then they posted a message saying "gone for Tea" while they arrested the
owner of the server, and came back later on using his identity online to
trap others but without sending them any pictures.

The server was reported by the Canadian police during an investigation
into child erotica websites, I find it incredible that someone though
that setting up this kind of server in his room in the UK would get him
off the hook, the paper included a screenshot of the website main page
and although it had no pics it was far clear by the text what it was all
about, mixing "sex for adults" and "kids" gave it away.
