I'm a man who received for the first time the diagnosis of NVLD from a neuropsychologist. Although I had had previous neuropsych testing done at least four times previously, it really took an experienced neuropsychologist to make the diagnosis. Well for the first time, I've someone has given me a reason why I have and continue to have trouble in so many areas of my life (job, social). It turns out that I have a condition that makes it impossible for me to process and remember new information. Not to mention an explanation for why I've always been athletically a bit of a klutz. My question concerns meds: are there any out there that will help with the symptoms? I've been on all the standard ADD meds (ritalin, desoxyn, concerta, adderal, etc) and none have worked (surprise, surprise) but then it's because I have NVLD, not ADD (which is something completely different). I'm at the point where I really need to get my life back on track after several years of being unemployed. The problem is that I do terribly on job interviews, b/c I have trouble thinking on my feet in a way that would make a potential employer want to hire me. So I'm just wondering if there are any effective meds out there that will alleviate some of the symptoms? I've been reading about an MAOI called "Deprenyl", which is unfortunately not available in th US and has to be ordered from overseas. Does anyone have any experience with Deprenyl?[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
