Competitors could always try and invent complaints about another seller though, I guess? Nasty people around, at imes, and none as much as where the mighty mean green (dollar) attracts them... Yes, working as a civil servant is cerainly discouraging: I always ended up the one kept in the same position, while they got rid of people doing a lousy job by promoting them to lighter tasks (higher in management then:)), or having a buddy from some other department or division make them an offer they can not refuse (promotion). I rememebr this woman I used to work with that worked as a translator and never spoke a word in any other language than English. She had been hired as a writer by the Division of the Department I then used to work for. Her bfriend was an older man who was one of the big bosses of some other division and had contats then (bfriend was an IT Director). So...She was hired as a writer, but they realized she was so bad at working at all, that they needed rid of her: they had to hire soemoen able to do the job of an 'exec' level writer. But they were stuck having all their persn-years taken...They ahd to rid of her to free a person year. I did not know of all that until she landed in our division as my colleague at the time. After a while, I went to see my then boss and ask him 'What the schmuck...? Are you aware that this person does nothign all day and that the only thing she ever even filed in her life are her nails? She is completely inapt as in lazy, spoilt lazy brat with a bad attitude...' -I know, i know, he answered me. He thenplained to my utmost shock how she got there: he was director general and the other division fell under him. When his communications director told him of the problem, he said h woudl take her off his hands and give her a writer job at the miniter's office. And she thus landed with me.... She woudl take 1.5 hours for lunch, and then woudl elave soon after to go to her hairstylist of all places for the rsest of the day, etc, etc. She must have been so bored sitting there doing nothing all day! Result was I hd to work double to make the office roll. The day they decided to hire another oen just like her, I gave a one month notice. I could have left in one day, but gave them a month to find someone else. Many were tried. They ll quit within *hours* after having a taste of those two:). The one who lasted longer was a man who lasted 2.5 dfays but ended up telling them off in no uncertain words, as I tried to not laugh at my desk. I must say I had figured it woudl be neat to see the trouble they woudl have finding someoen to do their job on top of the one they were handed, over my last month there. I left at the end of that month as said. Two eyars later, soemone who still worked there for the minister's offiece, but not in the editorial division, told me he heard a good one that day: he was in the elevator when a man walks in, a minister's special assistant, who is very upset and fuming. The friend asked what was wrong. nd the man told him that oh, he was sent to see what was wrong with the editorial ivision sicne 2 years where they could do nothign half right, and to find how to remedy to the situation. The man then said without having any clue that he was talking to a friend of mine, that no one knew what they were doing over there, that he checked past dockets and that the only person who knew wht she was doing, the last one that did over there was (and he gave my name), adding in a sae breath that he woudl kill to know where I was. The said friend was my then bfriend. So imagine his reaction when he ehard that:):). He could not wait to tell me after work. He told the guy he actually might be able to find the gal (me), with a bit of time...Te other said to ask me if I wanted my job back. I made an answer that I coud fix their problem all right, but so long as the other two were sent elsewhere where they belonged, and so long as they tripled my salary:). (I did not want back there: once people abuse that bad they can deal with their own consequences: they wanted to put their gfriends there? So be it! They could now live wih it. Needless to say that I did not get my job there through a bfriend and that the bfriend in question I met as a staff member days before I *left* the deparment. It can really be annoying and so frustrating!! The worst is when I have to deal with other departments as a civilianmyself, workig hard all day to do real work, only to be served by total morons wh randomly answer the phoen at other deparments when I need medicare info, or when meduare or our Rev Quebec akes a mistake, etc, etc. Just now, I came home late, after catching up time at work because f the delays yesterday morning. I learned sicne that someone else in our deparment, but another division, seperate from us, but on same floor and well knwn top my boss and everyoen else, also got caught in taht traffic jam and was late. I then was too happy to go tell my boss that btw, such was also stuck in the same traffic jam and arrived at a similar time on her side, and that apparentl, the problem was that an overpass was falling down on people on the boulevard to the bridge, there fore all lanes being closed to traffic save one, five lanes having to squish into one.... She still was in a rotten mood. But I am tired of paying for oter people's moods, I have enough of my own in the end. Sigh. Just ths evening I get home late as I was sayng, and the doorbell rings just as I am changing. In a hurry I throw a house roe on and peak to see who it is, thinking it had to be my sis. Nope. Two strangers, looking like JWs, maybe.... I open and am one: They are for the elections and claim soemthign is wrong with my registration. Beg your pardon? I then thnk OUT LOUD ÔMpft. Does it work with mediare card? Cause iof so there i a mistake on my year of birth with medicare and I reurned my card to have it fixed but...I still am waiting for it: it i in the mail hey said:)'. But he then hands me the sheet and I see the year of birth is okay. He yet dealres it has to be it and scratches it off to write another year of birth, the same wrogn one as medicare. -Noooooo!!! I am fighting so hard to have them correct their goof, for pitty.s sake, mercy! Do NOT wroite an erroneous year of birth there, youw ill bring me troubles deeper than I can tell you! Here are id cards: drivers license. Is that okay? I have borth ceritifates from the parish, from the governmencentral, I have employee id, what else could help? This IS my right eyar of birth on your paper. Hopwever, there is a V in the addie that has nothign to do there. City name then a V lost a few spaces away from it? That si the mistake sounds to me.... -Still, he insists, I will write down that you have a different eyar of birth on your medicard. -Oh no you do NOT!!! -Better write it. -Why??? I just told you I returned my card because it was faulty, and you ahve the right dob. I offer you to chek my birth certificate, my drivers lcense you saw, I asked youw aht else I coud show you for a roof. I have mty passport...How about that?? -Nah, I will just write down your medicare id number witht he other eyar. -THE HELL YOU WILL! I said it is returned, I do nt have one, I am waiting for the one corrected by them with the right year of birth! Fro cryign out loud, I fought with the Healthcare commissaire all month, dont make me have to g through this nightmare all voer again! Thankl goodness, hi partner seemed more intelliogent and less 'I just wrk there'. -What is it? she said as she arrioved in the middle of this. -He just wnlt quit wiht wroting the wrong year of birth for me! I showed him id and all and he just wonlt quit! -er year of birth is wrong on the voting form. -It is NOT! Gawd, is he deaf or stubborn or bth??? Geez! I just told him that I had returned my medicard as he asked it for proof because it had a mistake on it. I however shwed him my drivers license, offered my brth certificate and he keeps demanding for my stupid medicard sayign that is the eyar he wants to wriote down: the erroneous one! -I will just note it once I leave the building, he said, 'I do not feel liek arguing' -Who asks you to argue? Just call it quits and correct the V I told youw as the mistake in the info you have there, whch btw is NOT on the card of confirmation fo registration that they set me. Did you add it yourself??? Geez.... -I donlt wanna argue.. -Welll if you intend on playing hypocrit pighead and changing it once you pass that door, then let,s clear this out right here and now. That was my real year f birth on your form and on all the cards and ID I showed you. Mty medicare had the wrong eyar and I retruned it for correction so quit asking me to see it!!! According tot he law, once I am confirmed on the list, if I do not cvall for corrections all is fine. The cofirmation card info is all fine, no wrong 'V' lost in there, no wrong dob, all is fine. What's your name? If ever I can not vote wen the time comes, we will knwo where that comes from, atelas, ths time around....Geez...:( But see, I was so upset and furious. All month I fougth so the moron at medicare woudl understand French and WORK to earn her pay doing what she is paid for: take a complaint and solve it in three das as they say on their website. Only, she made it worst instead and anihilated all the work I ahd done through many years of desperatly tryign to ahve them correct one lousy digit!! I foud the cpoincidence too big and wondered if the darn moron at mediare did that opne:(... Making everyhting bounce at all other quebec departments because of her screwing my dob for years agin due to her complete uselessness. But hey, she has the big top job as a civil servat! AAARGH. So I sure know how it goes. But I still say that if poeple woudl just stop that and do what they are paid for, the world would be a better place for them and their kids, too, sicne they wodl also fall on people being helpful and kind when tehy woudl all departments for enquiries, complaint,s service or whatever of the kind. Makes it triple hard to be nice and I blew a fuse again thsi evening at that election listing moron. They even went to check on me with the darn **janitor* saking me if I knew her, sayign they went to see her the evening before about info on me --said the man. What??? I have top secret security clearance and who gives their word on me? A janitor I knw nothing f save that she is a mean person who just ''works here', like 34 of humanity? Siiigh. So I know, trust me, I knw how cvil srvants can be. I work witht hem all da, and I have t deal with them outide work as a citizen myself. I am driving insane wiht them doing more and more messes. The ore youc all to try and fix things the more you bug them while they were twddling their thumbs, and the more they will mess your file. This way they figue you will give up calling... I might have to y a court rep to deliver a paper in hand and have them sign, because for the last 26 years they played never receiving my birth certificate and hen I complained about it they asked me to send a 27th one!!! AAAARGH!!!! --and messed my fie worse! I just unno what to do with such poele anymore, mpft. Still, I hope t not became like tem and to be of service in my work, and to do it best as can be. Regardless of how eman heyc an be...
