In May 2002, a little Albanian girl, who lived in Chania close to our home, brought to us a cute black puppy that she had found abandoned on the beach. Her father did not allow her to keep it. The Albanian family already fed some stray cats and their Greek neighbors threatened them every day saying that they would poison the "filthy vermin". The child, in tears, literally begged me to send the puppy to Germany "where it will not be killed and where people treat the animals much better than in Greece". Even at such a tender age she knew what is wrong with this country of Greece! I promised her I would and I did. Thank God, Lena, the little puppy, now lives with Ina in Andernach, Germany. Regina Schmid - Germany. End Quote---------- Now, if this isn't definite proof that this Nazi, bigoted (against Greeks, obviously) animal activist/fanatical zealot doesn't have an ax to grind with Greeks and Greece in general, I don't know what is. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for being kind to animals, treating them humanely and punishing cruelty towards them with the full force of the Law, but this simple (in mind) little German ex pat, should stop badmouthing the country she chose to reside in. If she thinks that solving the problems of stray animals in urban and rural centers in quasi-tropical Greece, where the weather is such that animals of any species thrive and multiply without restriction, consists of finding an adoptive home for every stray cat or dog, she's mistaken. What we need is education, not some existentially confused crackpot advocating an end to cruelty by invoking the classical era of Greek civilization. -- Nicolas[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
