Exporting and importing address books

The export/import of Agent's address book looks as if it's
straightforward, but doesn't seem to work as expected.

I want to transfer the address book from one PC to another. Both are
running Agent 4.2 and WinXP SP3.

Some address book entries are short mailing lists - this is where  I
have the problem. I export the address book from PC#1 to my network
drive. I then import that address book to PC#2. I expect to see, on
PC#2, exactly the same address book as on PC#1.

But I don't - the individual addresses in the mailing lists haven't
updated.

What have I misunderstood, or is there an underlying problem here?
