~ Summary of "D.O.A." Episode 1.13 of BLOOD TIES New Characters Paul Deeds .................. Steve Bacic Chuntao Fang ............... Kira Clavell As Vicki Nelson, P.I. opens her office one morning, she is approached by a colleague and undercover cop, Paul Deeds, asking for her help with a homicide. The unusual thing is that there is no body, the victim is Deeds himself, he claims to be Deeds' ghost, and no one can see him but Vicki. On top of all that, Deeds cannot remember being killed. The last thing he does remember is being at a biker bar called "The Standard" and meeting some girl. Vicki first consults with TPD Detective Mike Celluci who remembers "Dirty" Deeds as a cop who didn't care how he closed a case and suggests that his murder may have something to do with that, but Mike does offer to see what he can find out about Deeds' work on the force. Mike learns from Chief Crowley that Deeds was riding undercover with a biker gang called "The Wolverines." His cover is as an ex-con with experience in international drug shipping. When Mike and Crowley meet at "The Blue Corvette," a cafe across the street from a shopping center where the Wolverines are currently amassing, Crowley lets it slip that Internal Affairs is also interested in Deeds because he hasn't produced anything useful to them in months and that a Wolverine member was recently murdered, a drug shipment stolen, and a clubhouse firebombed. It's feared that Deeds has gone crooked, and Crowley isn't certain just whose side Deeds is on. Things become even more complicated when Mike looks out the window to see Paul Deeds in the flesh, joining his Wolverine buddies. Meanwhile, Henry is concerned that the ghost of Paul Deeds may not be that of Deeds, since Vicki has recently become a "magnet" for the supernatural. This "ghost" could be anything from the actual ghost of Paul Deeds, to Astaroth or someone sent by Astaroth to do his dirty work, or to some sort of mythological vampire that sucks the lifeforce out of people, so Henry decides to find out more about Deeds. He pays a visit to The Standard, where he learns from the bartender that Deeds came in about two nights ago, met a girl named Tessa, and went into the men's room with her. Deeds came out later and left. Tessa came out, sat down at the bar, and keeled over dead. Mike has had Deeds picked up and brought in for questioning under the pretext of wanting to know what insights he might have on the murder of the Wolverine biker. Deeds thinks it might be a grudge with the Only Ones, another biker gang, but an undercover cop riding with the Only Ones assures Mike that they weren't involved. Mike also arranges to have Vicki see Deeds, and she notices that this Deeds is different from the ghost of Deeds in that Deeds' ghost passes through solids whereas this Deeds is picking up and eating a raw steak sandwich. She also notices that his body feels extremely warm. While Mike suspects Deeds of working for a third faction and possibly selling out the Wolverines, Vicki suspects that Deeds' body has been demonically possessed. While Mike does a stakeout at The Alleycats Body Rub, a massage parlor where the Dragons, an Asian rival of the Wolverines, hold turf, Vicki and Henry visit the coroner to see what Dr Mohavedan can tell them about Tessa, the girl who dropped dead two nights ago in The Standard. Rajani shows them the body of a girl in her early 20s, but explains that her insides were those of a 70-year old. It's almost as though her insides were burning out, Rajani describes. In addition, her stomach was full of raw meat, which reminds Vicki of Deeds' raw steak sandwich. Vicki is now more certain than ever that Deeds' body is being used by another entity. Even so, Henry points out, that doesn't mean that the "ghost" is really Deeds. Both Henry and Vicki are surprised when Deeds also shows up to view the body, and Henry gives him a twice-over while Deeds and Vicki exchange tough talk. Mike's stakeout pays off when Dragon leader, Chuntao Fang, drives up in her black Porsche and finds herself face-to-face with Paul Deeds. Deeds seems to be coming on to Chuntao, but she doesn't appear to be interested. She reminds him that he's already received cash for his services, but Deeds presses for a different "thank you" and, to show his sincerity, he produces photos and info from her active file with the police. Chuntao warms up slightly, but she challenges him to be more impressive before she becomes forthcoming, so Deeds takes out two Wolverines in a driveby shooting. Back at Vicki's office, Coreen has dug up some info about Tessa, including the name of her lowlife boyfriend. Unfortunately, Derek Pheasant died four days before Tessa, after being with hooker Mary Wallace, whose john -- Bert Winters -- preceded her in death. Plus, they all died from the same thing, as though their bodies were burning up from the inside out. First Bert Winters, then Mary Wallace, Derek Pheasant, Tessa, and now Deeds. The entity may be jumping from victim to victim, Henry concludes, impressing Vicki with his growing detective abilities. When Vicki shares this information with Mike, he has no answers other than the fact that Deeds, like the others in the chain, might not have been "clean." He asks Vicki to talk with Deeds about his activites the next time she sees him, but when Vicki later points out to Deeds that this entity seems to be attracted to certain types of essences -- that of lowlife criminals -- and asks how Deeds fits in the picture, he gets angry and disappears. Henry thinks he may have found the possessing entity. Coreen has discovered information about the ancient Babylonian ekimmu, an entity that moves from one human body to the next because it can't gain entrance to the underworld. It lives in a constant state of anger and feeds on raw meat. It jumps from one gender to the next and must touch its victim intimately in order to make the jump. Vicki surmises that, during its jump from Deeds' body to the next body, the ghost of Paul Deeds might be able to get his body back if there hasn't been too much cellular damage. Henry thinks that trapping the ekimmu between bodies might be the way to destroy it, along with a cedar stake. The problem is getting the two Deedses together and being there when the ekimmu makes its jump. Vicki suggests that, if they can figure out what lowlife thing Deeds was doing, they might be able to predict when or with whom the next exchange will take place. Henry remembers seeing a sheath of papers in Deeds' pocket when he was twice-overing him at the morgue. "Chuntao Fang" was written on it, and the records department is right next to the morgue. Thinking that the papers might have been Chuntao's police files, Vicki goes to the station, where she and Mike check the records and find that the file on Chuntao Fang has been skeletonized. Meanwhile, Henry stakes out the Alleycats and notices Paul Deeds hobnailing with Chuntao. Henry is joined by Deeds' ghost, whom he can now talk to, and they conclude that the ekimmu is planning to jump into Chuntao next. Later, as Vicki, Henry, and Deeds' ghost meet in Vicki's office, Deeds comes clean about his activities. It wasn't him who took Chuntao's files, but he admits that he did take money for passing information about the Wolverines to the Dragons. The three of them then head back to the Alleycat, where they come upon Deeds kissing Chuntao. Suddenly, the ekimmu comes out of Deeds' mouth and tries to snake its way into Chuntao. Henry pushes Chuntao and Deeds apart, and the ekimmu drops to the ground. Vicki stabs it with a cedar stake, and it disappears. Mike drives up and arrests Chuntao. Paul Deeds' ghost re-enters his body and, after apologizing to Vicki for lying to her, Paul Deeds dies.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
