I recently read an interview with modern Vampire literary juggernaut Stephenie Meyer in which she says she has read few other vamp lit authors, save some Anne Rice. The one book she said she intends to read, but never quite gets around to is Bram Stoker's Dracula. Dracula is a primary influence of all modern vampire lit. While there were vampire stories before Drac, the Dracula mythology took root in our culture and stayed there. You'd be hard pressed to find any vampire book, tv show, or movie that is not influenced by Dracula's vampire mythology. Vampires and blood? In Dracula. Vampire charm? In Dracula. Vampires and sunlight? In Dracula. Vampires and mirrors? In Dracula. Vampires and bats, wolves, and rats? In Dracula. Vampires and coffins? In Dracula. So, how many here have read Dracula? It's free online to read ( http://www.spookyfiles.com/Dracula-Chapter--1/ ) and most libraries also have at least one copy.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
