So the Television Critic's Association is having it's annual previews convention with the networks, and the country's critics are blogging their reports. Tim Goodman of the San Francisco Chronicle live- blogged (on 7-10-08) the below from HBO's preview meeting about the new series 'True Blood': --- "True Blood" up next.... "I don't look at the vampires as a metaphor for gays." - Alan Ball. "It's a bigger metaphor than that. And it's not a metaphor at all. It's vampires." "I think it's pretty lame when you let your vampire go out in the day just because you don't want to shoot at night." - Ball. "This is really my first foray into vampires." He's never seen "Buffy" or "Angel" or read any Anne Rice, but he has read the books that "True Blood" are based on. The first season apparently follows the book closely, then it creates new territory, ala "Dexter." I think it's safe to say that Ball has no interest in Vampire fan crazies and people who are obsessed with the mythology. Vamp geeks beware. He just wants to tell stories. He doesn't want to get all nutty about it. --- Now that 'Moonlight' is officially canceled, it'll be interesting to see what viewer response is to 'True Blood'. I for one suspect vampires are played out in the US market, at least on TV.[ Auf dieses Posting antworten ]
