Help converting WMV into MP4

Hello,
I have some WMV files in anamorphic (Think right spelling) when played on
my PC they stretch correctly and look fine. However if I convert them to MP4
using Prism or Nero Re-Code they play in 4:3 and everything is stretched
upwards, instead of stretching sideways and making the picture look correct.

Is there any re-code software that can produce the correct 16:9 output from
a 4:3 anamorphic source???
